Shaun Hogan, D.O
Shaun leads the small committed team at Hogan Osteo Plus. Shaun has dedicated his life to healing the body, starting out as a Massage Therapist and then moving to Osteopathy and a variety of other body health disciplines.
Shaun started to gain an interest in massage therapy after experiencing the therapeutic benefits first hand while rowing at the German National Rowing Academy in Ratzeburg, Germany, from 1982 – 1986. This lead to Shaun gaining a Diploma in massage therapy in 1989 from the New Zealand Association of Therapeutic Massage Practitioners (NZATMP).
Further developing his skills, Shaun gained his Diploma in Osteopathy in 1997 from The Osteopathic Council of New Zealand (OCNZ). This was followed by an advanced Certificate and Graduate Diploma Clinical Osteopathy from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
As a result of this skill set, Shaun has had the privilege of assisting many of Wanganui’s representative sports teams, as well as several New Zealand teams abroad, which is how he met his wife Philippa. Philippa is a former triple world champion rower, double Olympian and twice winner of the Supreme Halberg Award.
Shaun founded Hogan Osteo Plus in 1998 because of his dedication to healing the body, and has found working as an osteopath within his own business to be rewarding, while still providing challenges.
The techniques and modalities used by Shaun include:
- Manual Manipulation
- Counter-Strain
- Cranial Therapy
- Fenzian
- Bioptron
